If you are driving to or through the Raymond Terrace area, here are four great parks to check out.
Drop in for a play at Dangar Park in Mayfield. It’s a small but fun neighbourhood park next to Mayfield Pool.
Visit Gross Street Reserve Playground, a playground in a peaceful bush reserve setting in Tighes Hill. There’s shaded picnic tables and lots of play equipment to suit all ages plus kids will love exploring the nearby Tighes Hill Community Garden.
Visit Morpeth Common on a day trip to the Maitland area. Adults and kids alike will enjoy watching the ducks. There’s also a nature-based play area, gas barbecues and plenty of undercover picnic tables.
Victor Warby Reserve in Gillieston Heights features shade, picnic tables and a half basketball/netball court.
Head to Roy Jordan Oval for a redeveloped playground plus a skate park in Gillieston Heights near Maitland.
Take your kids for a play at Rathmines Park. Former home of the RAAF Catalina Flying Boat Base, it features plane-themed play equipment and a great view of the lake.
Just a half hour drive from Newcastle City, McCauley Park at Tarro is a quiet park suited to under 10’s with lots of play equipment to climb and balance on.

Check out Harold Myers Park Playground in Birmingham Gardens. As well as play equipment, there’s also lots of grassy space in the park to run, play and kick a ball.
Visit Waratah Park Playground, located next to Waratah Oval and the Georgetown Girl Guides Hall. It’s only a small playground but there’s enough equipment to make a visit fun for kids.
