Located midway between Bar Beach and Merewether, you’ll find Dixon Park. It’s on the popular Bather’s Way walking track in Newcastle and is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ocean views while your child plays in Dixon Park Playground.

This playground with ocean views features a swing set, see saw and a climbing structure with slide.

For younger kids, there’s rockers, xylophone and rubberised stools that they can jump on and off.

Around the playground is plenty of grass, ideal for ball games like soccer or frisbee.

Although the picnic tables are covered, the playground itself has no shade. BBQ facilities are close by but the closest toilets are up the hill at Dixon Park Beach Surf Club.

After a play in the park, go for a stroll down to Merewether on the Bathers Way pathway or head to the patrolled Dixon Park Beach for a swim.
