It features two large pools, one deep, with diving blocks, for confident swimmers and laps, and a shallow, sandy-bottomed pool that’s perfect for toddlers and young children to splash, dig and play safely.

Merewether Ocean Baths suits all ages, but the shallow pool in particular makes it a standout for families with toddlers and young children who aren’t yet confident swimmers.
Older kids and adults get the deep pool with diving blocks to themselves.
Facilities
There’s a variety of seating around both pools, including bench seats and steps, plus a few sheltered tables if you’d rather not sit on the sand.
As with most beaches, there isn’t a lot of shade, so pack sunscreen, sun-safe clothing and a beach umbrella or shade tent. Don’t forget buckets and spades, a beach ball or a boogie board while you’re at it.
There are also plenty of great eating options within a short walk, several with beautiful views over the beach and baths.
The baths are open year-round, subject to maintenance and cleaning. Always check the cleaning schedule before you head down to avoid disappointment.

Merewether Ocean Baths is at 5 Henderson Parade, Merewether. There’s free parking available in car parks and on surrounding streets, but it can be difficult to find a spot during summer and school holidays, so aim to arrive early.
