If you’re a fan of timber playgrounds, head to Cressington Way Playground in Wallsend. This playground was refurbished in 2019 and features a cute timber playground.

This neighbourhood playground features a large wooden play teepee with a slide and lots of places to climb up or down.

The cute little wooden “shop” is fun for kids who want to play “shopping”.

We especially like the three bridges, a shaky wooden bridge, a log bridge and a rope bridge for kids to practice their balance.

There’s also a group swing and double swing with accompanying baby swing.

Check out these cute wooden wobblies. They look like something your grandpa could have carved.

The play equipment best suits kids aged 0 – 7 years. The timber play equipment is a nice change from the plastic play equipment which you find at some playgrounds.

Near the playground, you’ll find lots of flat space ideal for kicking a ball around or just running around. There’s also a netball hoop for kids who want to practice their shooting.
