While there are Easter events happening locally around Newcastle, we wanted to put together a guide of events in Sydney and beyond to attend. Sydney Royal Easter Show

Why you should go: Australia’s biggest celebration of the country, the Sydney Royal Easter Show is back for 2022 with tickets on sale now. Although the show is described as an agricultural show, it’s much more than that. It’s a celebration of rural and agricultural industry dating back to 1823 and includes animal displays, award-winning produce and crafts.
Some of our favourites include the Farmyard Nursery with over 500 free-range animals you can pat, the Animal Walk where you head in and out of pavilions, to see all the Sydney Royal award-winning animals and farmyard and Food Farm teaches kids everything they need to know about food and fibre, paddock to plate and the importance of our farmers. Sydney Family Show

Why you should go: For a day of fun, head to the Sydney Family Show. It is held at the Entertainment Quarter in Moore Park annually in the April school holidays. There’s heaps of fun for you and kids to enjoy including a bunny hopping competition, animal nursery, live stage shows, carnival rides and of course plenty of show bags. This year, book your kids in for the new Easter Basket Scramble where kids will collect toys from within a white picket fenced area. It’s $10 per child and includes the Easter Egg basket, access to the zone and three toys.
Easter Egg Hunt At Golden Ridge Animal Farm

Why you should go: Let your kids experience the fun of an Easter Egg Hunt at a hands-on and interactive farm in Dural. Kids will first get to milk the cow, cuddle little chicks, ducklings and bunnies and decorate an Easter mask. It’s then onto the main event of an Easter Egg Hunt. Kids will need to search for hidden plastic easter eggs. They then swap their plastic eggs for an Easter bag containing real chocolate Easter eggs, toys and lollies. After the hunt, families can do a farm walk and hand feed chickens, deer, alpacas, goats, ducks and more ($5 a bucket) Session times for the Easter egg hunt run for two hours. Choose a time that suits you and your family. Tickets are limited so book early to avoid missing out.
Egg-Cellent Easter Egg Hunt in Centennial Park

Why you should go: Follow the trail of the Easter Bilby in beautiful Centennial Parklands. This popular annual Easter event is all about families celebrating Easter magic in the beautiful outdoors. Kids and their parents are introduced to the story of the Easter Bilby and their very special promotion to Australia’s Easter mascot.
In this 1-hour program led by an education ranger, kids engage in nature-based games and art projects celebrating Australia’s native plants and animals, follow trail maps, overcome challenges and connect with the natural world and their community! Session times range from 9am to 3:30pm

Why you should go: Glenworth Valley is the backdrop of Sydney’s biggest Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday. Organise a group of your friends and family and search for over 25,000 chocolate eggs scattered among Glenworth Valley’s magical wilderness. That’s 15 eggs each! Egg collection is for children up to 16 years. There will also be a very special Easter bunny to meet. Sessions run at 9am, 10am and 11am.
Mad Hatters High Tea

Why you should go: Take part in the Hunter Valley’s largest Easter Egg Hunt at Hunter Valley Gardens during the Easter Long Weekend. The Giant Easter Egg Hunt will take place on Saturday and Sunday, April 15 – 17 April with thousands of plastic eggs to find. Every child who participates will receive an Easter chocolate at the completion of the hunt. The Giant Easter Egg Hunt runs every every hour from 11am to 2pm.
In addition to the hunt, there’s tons of activities planned for kids over the long weekend including a visit fro the Easter Bunny and Alice as well as the fun of the animatronic Mega Creatures which is on during the school holidays. There is also Easter activities and the rides of Hunter Valley Gardens to enjoy.
Jamberoo

Why you should go: Make a weekend of it and head south to Jamberoo water-theme park in Wollongong for some Easter fun. Unfortunately, there won’t be an Easter Egg Hunt like in previous years. But each child aged 4 – 12 will receive an individually prepared bags of chocolate Easter eggs when they enter the park. This helps with safety measures, adds a personal touch and a photo opportunity, and means all children will get their own special bag of eggs. Get there early as between 10 – 11am the Easter Bunny and Sammy the Shark will start handing out the eggs and they will be available for photos near the park entrance – so bring your camera and share the fun. You can then enjoy a big day of fun at Jamberoo.
