Visitors can hire a MAP Play kit to enjoy self-directed STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) activities in Speers Point Park. Adventure Packs – Enjoy MAP mima inside and out with five art activities that encourage young people to look a little closer, discover a little more and find inspiration in the exhibitions and surrounding landscape. Each backpack contains art materials and activity guidelines. Take your creations home and leave the materials for us to clean up. Suitable for primary school aged children with parental assistance. Packs cater for up to two children and can be hired for up to two hours. Cost $8 for up to two hours. Bookings for the packs can be made in person at MAP mima during opening hours. Hirers will be asked to leave contact details and proof of identity for return of kits.

Museum of Art and Culture Lake Macquarie (MAC)

Wednesday Art Club 4.30-5.30pm is for ages 6-12. Children can create an artwork to take home using acrylic paint. Children can enjoy exploring artmaking techniques in a structured but fun environment, with inspiration from the exhibitions. Cost is $60 for block or $15 per session. MAC Lake Macquarie also offer Art Space, where young children and their families are invited to enjoy free, simple art activities guided by friendly art museum educators every Sunday in Studio MAC. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and art activities take approximately half an hour to complete. Bookings are essential. They also hold regular Kids Workshops.
