Gymkidz is bringing small, fun gymnastics classes to Merewether this Term 4, with programs for Toddlers, Preschoolers, Kindy and Primary-aged children.
Gymkidz was founded by Tamzin, who has over 20 years of gymnastics coaching experience and a strong passion for child development. Her approach centers on nurturing confidence, independence, coordination and a love of movement.
After growing Gymkidz in Sydney’s Inner West since 2017, Tamzin is now bringing the program to Newcastle. Term 4 enrolments are now open for families looking for kids’ gymnastics in Merewether and the wider Newcastle area.
Classes will be held on Friday and Saturday at the Uniting Church Community Hall at 178 Glebe Rd, Merewether.
Try Before You Enrol: Free Open Days
Not sure if gymnastics is the right fit for your child? Gymkidz is holding free Open Days on 2, 3, 9 and 10 October, giving Newcastle families the chance to meet the team and try a class before committing to Term 4.
Open Day places can be booked online through the Gymkidz Newcastle website. It is a low-pressure way to see how your child responds to the class before you enrol.
Term 4 Classes at Merewether
Term 4 runs for 10 weeks, from 12 October to 19 December, with classes on Friday afternoons from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and Saturday mornings from 9am to 11.30am. Classes start from $28 per 45 minute session.
Here is a quick rundown of what is on offer by age group.
Toddler Gymnastics (16 Months to 3.25 Years)
Toddler classes are designed as a starting point for early development, covering the first three years of your child’s life. Parents stay with their child throughout the class, exploring and celebrating new movements together. It is a gentle, low-pressure way to introduce your little one to structured movement before they head off to preschool.
Preschool Gymnastics (3.25 to 5 Years, 45 Minute Class)
Preschool classes help kids build the physical foundations gymnastics is known for, coordination, balance and body awareness, while working towards their developmental milestones in a fun, nurturing setting.
Preschool Plus+ (4.25 to 5 Years, 1 Hour Class)
Preschool Plus+ bridges the gap between the preschool and kindy programs. The longer one hour format helps set a strong foundation for school readiness, which is handy timing for local families with kids starting kindergarten next year.
Kindy & Primary Gymnastics (5 to 12 Years)
These one hour classes let kids progress at their own skill level, tackling new challenges each week. The focus is on building confidence and celebrating achievements as much as it is on the gymnastics itself.
Primary Plus+ (For Kids With Gymnastics Experience)
For more experienced young gymnasts, Primary Plus+ is a one hour class that steps things up, introducing more advanced skills for kids ready to be challenged further.
