Active Kids Voucher: Apply for Two $100 NSW Active Kids Sports Rebates

| | ,

Do you live in New South Wales and have school-aged kids in sport? The $100 Active Kids Voucher program provides families in NSW with two $100 per school-aged child each year, to help meet the cost of getting kids involved in community sport. This can be applied to after-school and weekend sport including swimming lessons.

The Active Kids voucher can be claimed twice annually from January and July and is not means-tested. Although $200 a year isn’t that much when it comes to the total cost of community sport, every little bit helps.

How does the Active Kids program work?

The NSW Government provides a $100 voucher to parents/guardians of school enrolled children. The $100 voucher can be used for registration and participation costs for sport and fitness activities. The initiative aims to reduce barriers to participation and help change the physical activity behaviours of children and young people in NSW.

From 1 July 2022, parents, guardians and carers can apply for the second $100 Active Kids voucher.

Voucher 1 is valid January to December and Voucher 2 is valid July to December.

Who is eligible to claim the Active Kids voucher?

Every child (4.5 – 18 years old) enrolled in school from Kindergarten to Year 12 will be eligible for an Active Kids Voucher. This includes those who are home-schooled or enrolled in secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

It is not means-tested and one voucher will be available for every child in the family annually over the next four years. There are no limits on the number of applications per family, as long as every child is enrolled in school.

If you’re looking for vouchers for younger kids, the NSW Government has introduced First Lap Voucher for swimming lessons for kids aged 3 – 6. Here’s all the details for the First Lap scheme.

How long does an Active Kids voucher last?

Vouchers are valid for redemption during the current calendar year activity program which runs from 1 January to 31 December 2022. Vouchers expire at the end of the calendar year.

From 1 July 2022, parents, guardians and carers can apply for the second $100 Active Kids voucher.

Voucher 1 is valid January to December and Voucher 2 is valid July to December.

What can the Active Kids voucher be used for?

The voucher can be used for registration or membership fees for structured activities by registered providers of no less than eight weeks’ duration that provide a moderate to vigorous level of physical activity, for example:

  • sporting pursuits
  • swimming lessons
  • structured fitness program
  • outdoor education programs
  • approved active recreation (dance etc)
  • equipment ordinarily provided by the provider on registration for competition.

The vouchers will be redeemable through approved sport, fitness and physical activity providers upon registration.

How do you download an Active Kids voucher?

Parents/guardians/carers with legal responsibility of an eligible child resident in NSW will be able to download a current year voucher from the online platform starting 1 January.

The platform will be run by Service NSW and can be accessed through the Active Kids website.
