Below you’ll find a complete list of Queensland school term dates and public holidays from 2026 to 2030 to help you plan ahead. Whether you live in Queensland or are travelling there from interstate, these key dates make it easier to organise family holidays and school breaks.
School terms in Queensland usually run for around 10 weeks per term, although some schools have slightly extended summer holidays.
These dates don’t include pupil-free days or school development days, so always check with your individual school. Independent and Catholic schools generally follow similar calendars but school holiday dates may vary slightly.

Long weekends in Queensland in 2027
Queensland has five long weekends in 2027, including two four-day breaks at Easter and Christmas. They’re perfect for family getaways, so book accommodation early.
- Easter long weekend: Friday 26 March to Monday 29 March (four days)
- Anzac Day long weekend: Saturday 24 April to Monday 26 April (if the Monday holiday is confirmed)
- Labour Day long weekend: Saturday 1 May to Monday 3 May
- King’s Birthday long weekend: Saturday 2 October to Monday 4 October
- Christmas long weekend: Saturday 25 December to Tuesday 28 December (four days)
Australia Day falls on Tuesday 26 January, so take Monday 25 January off for a four-day break from Saturday 23 January. Queensland school holidays also run until Tuesday 26 January, which makes it an easy end-of-summer trip.
New Year’s Day 2028 is a Saturday, with the public holiday on Monday 3 January, giving another long weekend from Saturday 1 January to Monday 3 January 2028.
