On a warm day, cool off at Wallsend Pool, a cute neighbourhood pool. It has everything you need for a fun family day out with a variety of pools to suit every age and swimming ability.
The main attraction of the Wallsend Swimming Centre is a large solar-heated 50-metre pool to do your laps. There’s also a free swim area on one side of the pool which is great for families to congregate and play in the water.
The learner’s pool is popular with families. At just 0.4 metre depth, it’s ideal for little ones to splash around. It features a large shade canopy which keeps you cool on hot days. If you get cold, just wander over to the unshaded part and warm up.
For even younger tots, head over to the toddler’s pool. Also shaded, this area lets little ones run around and splash.
In this area, you’ll spot a nearby playground that is great for younger kids.
This playground was replaced a couple of years ago and features a small climbing structure, swings, two slides, balancing stools and a rope bridge. Nearby you’ll find swings and a roundabout.
There is plenty of shade on warm days with a large central shade structure with picnic tables as well as large established trees.
Bring a picnic and enjoy some lunch or cook up some snags on the barbecues at the pool.
You can also order hot chips at the kiosk.
Entry charges to the centre do apply, and seasonal passes are available for the more frequent visitors.
