As the weather warms up, enjoy a day at the beach. Whether your family wants to swim in the surf, build sandcastles, sunbathe or just catch up with friends, be prepared. We’ve put together a helpful list of things to pack to make it as fun as possible.
Go for a dip in the Belmont Baths at Lake Macquarie. The swimming enclosure consists of a shark-netted swimming area and a jetty that’s fun to jump off. There’s plenty of room for everyone including those with inflatables.
Charlestown Pool is especially good for those with toddlers and preschoolers. Run by Lake Macquarie City Council, Charlestown Pool has facilities the whole family will enjoy. The swim centre boasts outdoor heated 25m and 50m pools, and a fantastic toddler splash pad for the small folk.
Have fun and cool off with a swim at Lambton Pool. Your kids will love the aquatic playground and waterslide.
Go for a swim at The Bogey Hole. This much loved swimming hole below King Edward Park in Newcastle is a great place to cool off and steep yourself in local history.
A popular beach for swimmers, surfers and snorkellers, this eastern facing beach is formed by the breakwall. Great family beach!
