Drop Off Your Letter to Santa at Your Local Post Office & Get an Instant Reply

One of the easiest Christmas activities for kids is dropping off a letter to Santa at your local Australia Post Office and walking out with his reply on the spot. No stamps, no waiting by the letterbox, just instant Christmas magic.

Last updated: 11 August — this program hasn’t been confirmed for Christmas 2026 yet, but if it runs again like it did last year, here’s how it worked.

In 2025, kids could hand-deliver their letter in-store instead of posting it. There was no need for a stamp or a return address. Each child who brought in their letter received a reply straight from Santa, plus a small gift to hang on the tree, while stocks lasted. The program ran from 3 November through to 24 December.

If Australia Post brings it back for 2026, the process will likely be the same. Simply write a letter to Santa (or help your little one write theirs), pop it in a sealed envelope, and take it to the counter at your local Australia Post Office. No need to know Santa’s address. Santa’s secret helper Pip takes care of getting it to the North Pole.

Not sure what to write? Santa loves hearing about what kids have been up to, family Christmas traditions, and what’s on the wish list this year.

It’s a fun, free activity and a handy way to find out what’s on your child’s Christmas list before you start shopping.

We’ll update this page as soon as Australia Post confirms details for Christmas 2026. In the meantime, you can check Australia Post’s Santa Mail website for the latest.
