If you’re around the west side of Lake Macquarie on Christmas Eve, keep an eye out for Floating Santa also known as Santa on the Lake. Each year on Christmas Eve for the past 40 years, Santa sails around the western side lake visiting different jetties and handing out lollies to kids.
The Rotary Club of Toronto Sunrise now coordinates this effort and puts together thousands of bags of lollies. These are personally handed out by Santa. There’s also Christmas carols at each landing spot as Santa approaches.
There are five stops on Christmas Eve (Tuesday 24 December 2019):
- 4:30pm at Bolton Point
- 5pm at Toronto Baths
- 6:15pm at Kilaben Bay Park
- 6:45pm at Rathmines F Wharf
- 7:15pm at Wangi Workers Club Wharf
Members of the Toronto Rotary Club will be assisting Santa at each landing and will also be collecting gold coin donations. These donations help contribute to local projects in 2020.
Take the family to one of Santa’s landing points or if you have a boat, join the flotilla of boats from Bolton Point accompanying him on his journey.
