| | ,

Rug up and enjoy Float Your Boat. This popular winter event is back for 2022! Get your friends and family together and gather on the shores of Lake Macquarie to see boats pass by in the Float Your Boat event organised by Lake Macquarie City Council. Float Your Boat is an open challenge for boat owners to dress up their boats with lights and take part in a flotilla parade.

The event is held over two nights in late June. On Friday 24 June, the boats travel on the western side of Lake Macquarie from Marmong Point Marina to Toronto, Coal Point and Wangi. On the following night, Saturday 25 June, the flotilla of boats travel the eastern side of the lake from Marmong Point Marina to Warners Bay, Eleebana, Valentine and Belmont.

It’s a popular event with spectators lining the shores to watch boats in a rainbow of colour cruise past casting their vote for the Newcastle Permanent People’s Choice Award. Cast your vote for your chance to win a $100 Visa giftcard*. The boat with the most votes online will win $2000. Voting will open Saturday 25 June and close Sunday 3 July 2022.

If you’re a boatie wanting to submit a boat, here’s all the information about registration and prizes. All boats must be more than five metres in length and host more than 1000 light globes to create a shining sculpture.
