[UPDATE] Float Your Boat 2021 Just on Friday – Watch a Flotilla of Boats Glide By on Lake Macquarie

Get your friends and family together and gather on the shores of Lake Macquarie to see a flotilla of boats pass by in the Float Your Boat event organised by Lake Macquarie City Council.

Held on beautiful lake Macquarie, spectators line the shores to watch boats in a rainbow of colour cruise past before casting their vote for the People’s Choice Award (voting will open by 6pm Saturday 19 June).

The event will now just run on Friday 18 June 2021 with the flotilla going from Marmong Point Marina to Wangi.

Saturday’s event which was to go from Marmong Point to Belmont has been cancelled due to forecasted wet and windy weekend weather.

This year’s weekend will include a range of shore-based activities, with a Friday night live-site at Toronto Foreshore and community event at Wangi Wangi.

Both the Toronto and Warners Bay live-sites will run 5pm to 9.30pm, featuring live music and entertainment, magic shows, illuminated art installations children’s activities and food trucks.

The Wangi RSL live-site will run 6pm to 9pm and feature live music, creative workshops and a community bonfire.

Friday 18 June – Marmong Point Marina to Toronto, Coal Point and Wangi

  • 5pm – Launch event with Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser at Marmong Point Marina
  • 5pm to 9:30pm – Toronto Foreshore live site and winter extravaganza. Enjoy live music, entertainment, magic shows, food trucks, illuminated art installations and children’s activities.
  • 6pm – Launch from Marmong Point Marina
  • 6pm to 9pm – Wangi RSL live site. Live music, creative community workshop and bonfire
  • 6:30pm to 7:30pm – Toronto
  • 8pm – Rathmines
  • 9pm – Wangi Wangi

Get together with friends and family to enjoy the event.

There are many ways you can enjoy the magic of Float Your Boat. Here’s a few ideas:

  • Attend the live sites events at Toronto Foreshore and Wangi RSL on Friday evening.
  • Choose a spot on the lakefront for you and your family to get the perfect view of the flotilla. Pack some camp chairs and a picnic to enjoy the show, or watch your very own drive-in illumination show from the comfort of your car.
  • Go out for dinner and enjoy the view of the boats at dining hubs in Toronto, Warners Bay and Belmont.
  • If you have lake views at your home, host a Float Your Boat BBQ with family and friends. Show your support to our boaties with the traditional “torch flash-back at ya” and let the evening sky light up!
