The Best New Kids & Family Movies Coming Out in 2021 in Australia

The schedule for new family movies during the past 18 months has been completely disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns. As well as delayed releases, some movies are being simultaneously shown in movies and on streaming platforms or in some cases directly to streaming.

We’ve compiled all the latest information including trailers so you can sit back and wait in anticipation until it arrives at your local movie theatre or on streaming service. Then head to the movies (or your living room) with your family and enjoy the show. Upcoming movies in 2021 and 2022 include book adaptations, remakes, sequels, and more. We’ve included movies to watch with toddlers all the way up to teens.

In the Heights

In the Heights is a musical focusing on a variety of characters living in the neighbourhood of Washington Heights, on the northern tip of Manhattan. At the centre of the show is Usnavi, a bodega owner who looks after the aging Cuban lady next door, pines for the gorgeous girl working in the neighbouring beauty salon and dreams of winning the lottery and escaping to the shores of his native Dominican Republic. Meanwhile, Nina, a childhood friend of Usnavi’s, has returned to the neighbourhood from her first year at college with surprising news for her parents, who have spent their life savings on building a better life for their daughter. Ultimately, Usnavi and the residents of the close-knit neighbourhood get a dose of what it means to be home. Rated PG

He knows, only at the Night Fairy’s dinner in the castle in the clouds, they can find out where Anne is – but there aren’t enough seats for everyone.
