Head ‘overseas’ to Stockton and visit the fun playground at Rawson Park. Revamped in 2024, it has a beach theme that complements its coastal location and equipment suitable for kids of all ages.

Located behind Stockton Bowling Club, near Stockton Surf Club, this playground is partially fenced on two sides and adjacent to a large car park. It’s also right opposite Stockton Beach so don’t forget to pack your swimmers and beach toys!

There’s play equipment to suit a variety of ages, but the playground is best suited to toddlers, preschoolers and primary school-aged kids.

Little kids will love riding the Seagull bouncy and playing make-believe in and around the ‘pirate ship’.

Older kids will have fun climbing on the ropes and nets of the ninja-style play gym and racing each other down the double slide.

There are three swings to choose from: a baby swing, a regular swing, and a round net swing.

Young adventurers will be kept busy searching for the ten dolphins hidden throughout the playground. Eight aren’t too tricky to find but the last two will put their detective skills to the test!

There’s a maze board, spinning rings and a counting board for little ones to practice their numbers.

The base is a combination of soft fall and woodchip. There’s surrounding grassed areas for kids to run around on, but shoes are recommended as the area is prone to cats eye thorns.

Cook up some lunch or dinner on one of the two gas barbecues and get a great view of Nobbys Headland while you cook. Or, dine-in or takeaway at nearby Lexie’s on the Beach. Stockton Bowling Club is also only metres away.

There are plenty of picnic tables to eat at – three outdoors and six undercover. The undercover tables tend to get busy on weekends with birthday parties and family gatherings, so get there early to secure your spot.

When the kids are finished playing on the playground, head across the car park to Stockton Beach for a play in the sand or a swim. The beach is patrolled from September to April by council lifeguards as well as volunteer lifesavers from Stockton Surf Lifesaving Club.
