Do you delight in working with children, and would like to earn a meaningful income from home?
Lake Macquarie Family Day Care is recruiting family day care educators in Lake Macquarie, Newcastle, and surrounding regions.
Lake Macquarie Family Day Care (affectionately known as Lake Mac FDC) is a network of self-employed qualified educators who provide early education and care from their own homes for children aged birth to 13 years.
Are you:
- passionate about working with children and looking for a flexible and rewarding career?
- able to provide safe, stimulating and educational learning environments?
- interested to run your own professional business?
If so, consider becoming a family day care educator. Children and families have the one primary educator in a small house setting for real relationships, real connections, and strong learning outcomes for children.
And early learning matters! – 90% of a child’s brain development occurs before 5 years of age! You can be a part of this and make a difference in this crucial period of a child’s learning and development.
Lake Macquarie Council has been operating the service for almost 45 years with strong governance, quality and community-based frameworks.
Lake Mac FDC delivers programs for children under the same early education and care regulatory and quality framework as centre-based services such as Long Day Care, Outside of School Hours Care, and Preschools. They can also offer government Child Care Subsidy fee assistance with the cost of care for eligible families.
Educators can place up to 7 children in total from 6 weeks old up to 13 years of age at any one time, including their own children – no more than 4 of these will be pre-school age.
Lake Mac FDC currently care for around 290 children each week – which equates to the same as a full 150-place centre! They have a waitlist of families seeking placement, and receive new inquiries every day.
Lake Mac FDC has educators registered across the Lake Macquarie local government area, however are also recruiting in surrounding areas.
They are also very keen to hear from people who might be interested in offering recreational and leisure-based programs for school-aged children – possibly during ‘school times’.
Educators must hold a minimum Certificate III in early childhood – however if you don’t yet have this, Lake Mac FDC can begin working through the registration process until you’re ready to start.
Educators are supported, mentored and monitored in working with a qualified Council Coordination Unit staff team (with nearly 150 years combined experience!) who visit regularly and are only a phone call or email away.
