Lake Mac is set for a super-charged weekend afloat and on shore! The Lake Mac Action Festival, formerly known as Fast & Loud, is a high-energy event held from 18-19 October
Showcasing action on both land and water, the festival brings together the excitement of on-water speed competitions, classic cars, live music, and a range of family-friendly entertainment.
New this year to the festival are the Morisset Showground Agricultural Show, offering agricultural community charm with rides, local produce, and traditional show attractions, and Let’s Surf, a pro junior surfing competition highlighting Lake Macquarie’s stunning coastline.
The 2025 Lake Mac Action Fest incorporates:
- Australian Offshore Powerboat Club (AOPC)
- Australian Formula Powerboats Grand Prix (AFPGP)
- Morisset Show and Rodeo
- Lake Macquarie Show and Shine Classic Cars
- Let’s Surf Lake Mac
This year’s festival includes three races of the Offshore Superboat Championships, with a course stretching from Marmong Point to Booragul, across to Speers Point and down to Warners Bay and Eleebana.
The Superboats will deliver speed, action and fun for all ages. With new boats, new set-ups and more horsepower, the round 1 season opener promises a spectacular race-filled weekend with 6 Offshore Championship races and 3 x Sport 65 & 85 races and 3 x Offshore Superboat races. Get close to the boats and meet the drivers at the Empire Marina pit area or choose a vantage point around the shores of beautiful Lake Macquarie.
You can also watch the Australian Formula Powerboat GP where speed meets excitement. Join the ride as these powerboats push the limits of racing. Formula powerboat racing is an extreme sport that is both fast and colourful.
With explosive starts, hairpin turns and high-speed passing maneuvers, they provide continuous action and excitement for spectators of all ages. The Powerboats program starts from 9am each day, launching from the boat ramp at Rathmines Park.
There’s also the Let’s Surf, a Pro Junior Surf competition held at Redhead Beach across the Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October. The competition serves to provide pathways for young surfers to join the World Junior Surf Championships.
Celebrate two days of family fun at the Morisset Lake Macquarie Agricultural Show, a true country show featuring horses, dogs, cattle, poultry, and goats on show. With the best exhibits from local art, horticulture, craft, cooking and fresh produce.
Saturday finishes off with a full program Rodeo and Fireworks. Plus there will be carnival rides, show bags, stalls, food vans, live local entertainment, Woodchopping, Kate Clancy Horse Show, whip-cracking displays and more!
