Visit Chartley Street Reserve Playground at Warners Bay

Located between Chartley and Whitby streets in Warners Bay, the shaded Chartley Street Reserve has a small, brightly-coloured playground to visit if you are in the Warners Bay area.

Being a neighbourhood park, it’s a quieter alternative to the larger Warner Park on the foreshore.

Set within a green reserve, there’s lots of fun, colourful equipment including swings, slides, a roundabout and climbing equipment.

There’s a small and a large slide. Kids will need some good climbing skills to access the top of the larger red slide. The smaller blue one suits toddlers.

There’s also a fun, seated roundabout that can accommodate four kids at a time.

Swing choices include a baby/toddler swing, a regular swing and an ever-popular group swing.

Other fun elements around this playground include a climbing wall, play shop and talking tubes.

There’s also a large, brightly-coloured abacus and matching games. Toddlers will enjoy the sensory experience of the oversized abacus and matching games as much as the challenge of completing them.

The base of the playground is a combination of woodchip and softfall. A park bench and numerous sandstone blocks provide spots to sit and rest.

You’ll find plenty of natural shade at Chartley Street Reserve thanks to the mature, leafy trees bordering the park. Depending on what time of day you visit, these big trees cast great shadows over the grass and the playground area.

Just keep in mind that since there are no formal shade sails here, the sun moves through the branches throughout the day, so still pack the hats and sunscreen!

It’s also important to note that the playground is situated directly between two residential roads, Chartley Street and Whitby Street. The area is not fully fenced, meaning there is only a small grass buffer between the play equipment and the kerb on both sides. While the streets generally have low-speed local traffic, constant supervision is recommended for younger children due to this playground’s open double-frontage.
