If you’re looking for an easy, affordable and family-friendly place to cool off in the warmer months, Beresfield Pool is a local favourite.
Located in the outer suburbs of Newcastle, this outdoor pool is a popular spot for families wanting to cool off in summer.
Whether you’re planning a weekend swim, school holiday outing or after-school splash, Beresfield Swimming Pool makes it simple to enjoy a fun day in the sun.
Just be sure to check lane availability as the centre does get booked for school swimming carnivals, and other events.
The main attraction of Beresfield Swimming Pool is a large solar-heated 50-metre pool to do your laps. There’s also a free swim area on one side of the pool which is great for families to practice their swimming and play in the water.
The learner’s pool is currently unavailable due to maintenance but when it’s open, it’s popular with families. It features a large shade canopy which keeps you cool on hot days.
For even younger tots, head over to the toddler’s pool. Also shaded, this area lets little ones run around and splash.
In this area, you’ll spot a large shaded playground that is great for younger kids who want a break from splashing around in the water. It features a group swing, play equipment with slide and some rockers.
You’ll notice a wide concrete path that leads from the pool to the play area so it’s accessible for prams and wheelchairs.
There is plenty of shade on warm days with large umbrellas over benches near the pool and behind the 50 metre pool. There’s also mature trees dotted around the swimming centre which provide additional shade.
With lots of lawn area and tree-shaded spots, families can lay out towels, picnic rugs or chairs and settle in for a relaxed visit.
It’s easy to spend a few hours here. Bring a picnic and enjoy some lunch or cook up some snags on the barbecues at the pool. You can also order food at the kiosk.
Entry charges to the centre do apply, and seasonal passes are available for the more frequent visitors.
