Discover Play Equipment Galore at Taylor Park in Barnsley

When it comes to play equipment, kids are spoilt for choice at the colourful Taylor Park Complex in Barnsley. Along with two play towers and a range of other fun equipment, there’s also a practice basketball and netball court for shooting hoops.

Located just minutes from Cameron Park, take the Barnsley exit off Northville Drive (accessible via George Booth Drive or Main Road). Follow Northville Drive to the very end, turn right at the roundabout onto Appletree Road, and you’ll spot the playground on your right.

While there isn’t a dedicated car park, there is plenty of easy roadside parking just off the asphalt, leaving you with only a very short walk to the playground.

The first play tower features a large, enclosed slide as well as a double slide that friends can race down. Underneath the slide tower, little ones can use their imaginations in the play shop. There’s also a climbing cube featuring a rock wall, nets, and balancing equipment.

The second play tower features a climbing wall, two slides, monkey bars, and balancing equipment.

Taylor park is a well-designed park, with something for all ages. Toddlers and preschoolers will love the cute echidna bouncy, the low-to-the-ground balancing pods, and large plastic noughts and crosses.

Older kids will enjoy the digger, spinner, and roundabout.

There’s a huge selection of equipment to climb, balance and hang upside-down from, including a large climbing net, a ladder, and two separate monkey bars.

The swing selection also offers something for all ages. Little ones can swing safely in the toddler seat, while older kids can enjoy the traditional swings. There is also a popular group swing, perfect for friends who want to pile on and ride together.

Incredibly, there’s also a flying fox at this playground. Kids can access the starting platform via the non-slip ramp.

If you take a basketball or netball, older siblings can keep themselves busy shooting hoops at the nearby practice court.

Pack a picnic to enjoy at the sheltered picnic table, or take advantage of the many established shady trees and throw down a blanket on the large, grassed area.

If you’re looking for a quiet, well-equipped park that caters to all ages, Taylor Park is well worth the drive.
