Newcastle Mother’s Day Classic Run / Walk Returns for 2026

Get active for breast cancer and ovarian cancer research and register for the The Mother’s Day Classic by running or walking the Newcastle event.

The MDC walk/run event will be held on Sunday 10 May and this year the event is raising funds and awareness for vital breast AND ovarian cancer research.

There will be 70+ event locations nationwide where supporters can walk, run or jog for the cause on Mother’s Day. Bring your family and grab some friends and make a morning of it! Here’s the link to the facebook event.

In past years, more than 300 people took part in the Newcastle MDC walk/run event and the local community raised more than $30,000.  This year, organisers are aiming to beat both those numbers.

This year the Newcastle event will take place along the Stockton Foreshore, from Griffith Park – East of Stockton Ferry Terminal, Stockton. It’s a flat 5km loop course that follows the Stockton foreshore walking track taking in views of the Hunter River, Newcastle Harbour, Nobbys Lighthouse and Stockton Beach. Choose from a 5km run or a 5km walk. The run leaves from 8:00am and the walk leaves from 8:30am and 9:00am.

In addition to the 5km walk or run, there’ll be coffee by Perky Cups and Food Trucks (TBC). There’ll also be a live DJ spinning tunes, kids entertainment, flowers and gifts for Mum available for purchase, and a raffle on the day, drawn at 9:45am.

Mother’s Day Classic is family friendly and an opportunity to acknowledge those people affected by breast and ovarian cancer and help raise money for life saving research.

To register for the Newcastle event, visit the Mother’s Day Classic website. Early bird pricing is available until 11.59pm (AEDT) on Thursday 16th April 2026.

The event can be accessed by public transport using Newcastle Ferries that depart from Queens Wharf, Newcastle as well as buses to Stockton.
