Climb, Bounce, Spin, Slide & Balance at McCauley Park in Tarro

McCauley Park, Tarro was upgraded in 2022 as part of City of Newcastle’s annual asset renewal program. There’s now fun play equipment including a ninja-style climbing gym and slides as well as equipment to bounce, slide, spin and balance on. Just a half hour drive from Newcastle City, McCauley Park is a great park to take your under 10s.

There’s no baby swing at this park, but there is a spider web swing and a regular swing.

For toddlers there’s a bouncy, a picture puzzle featuring Australian animals, balancing balls, logs and beams and another puzzle and play shop underneath the climbing structure.

The two small slides are easy to climb to the top of via the stairs or, for more of a challenge, older kids can climb across the rope ladder.

Kids who love climbing will love the ninja-style climbing gym. There’s a woodchip base for them to drop onto. There’s also monkey bars.

For kids who love puzzles there’s a connect 4-style game board, requiring 2 players as well as a noughts and crosses.

Kids of all ages love a spinner. It, along with some of the other stand-alone equipment, has softfall underneath.

Parents and carers can sit and supervise from the park bench or from the sandstone blocks. There are a few tall trees, providing a small amount of shade and younger trees have been planted around the park.

Although the park is located on a main road, it is set well back from the road and fenced on the other three sides. Parking is on-street, on the smaller side road running off Anderson Drive.
