Jump On Board the Christmas Bus or Light Rail Reindeers

| |

It’s that time of year again when the Christmas Bus and Light Rail Reindeers return. Jump on board and enjoy the Christmas spirit on the Newcastle Transport network.

Christmas Bus

You can ride on the COVID Safe Christmas bus from December 1 – 31. Enjoy the Christmas cheer with fun, summery Christmas decorations and a soundtrack of jolly Christmas tunes. This bus is sure to delight all who ride on it.

You may be lucky and spot the bus during your usual commute or check out the Christmas Bus timetable below to find out where and when you can catch it! There are heaps of routes that you can choose from no matter where you live in the Newcastle Transport zone.

Look for the stopwatch symbol on the timetable which designates a short trip. These would be fun excursions to do with little ones who might not have the attention span for a longer bus ride.

While the decorations will be different, here’s a photo of the 2020 Christmas Bus decorated with decals.

Due to COVID-19, there are less decorations inside and only decals are used to allow for sanitising.

Light Rail Reindeer

In addition to the Christmas Bus, you can also ride on the Light Rail reindeer. Each year, the trams are badged with different names and reindeer antlers.

Not only is it a treat to ride on Rudolph or Cupid, but it’s also fun to sit and spot all the different light rail trams to see if you can spot all nine names. For reference, that’s Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen

Top spots to hang out and watch the light rail trams is either in Pacific Park, Wheeler Place or Market Street Lawn.

You can also take a ride on the Stockton Ferry. It will be decorated to be fun and festive and feature Christmas stars, presents and stockings.
