This harbour beach is a favourite for dog owners. Your dog and your kids can enjoy the gentle waves at Horseshoe Beach.

Redhead Beach

In Lake Macquarie, you can take dogs and kids down to Redhead Beach which has an off-leash area for dogs. Park at Cain Street Reserve and walk along the bush path to the beach, once on the beach you can set your dog free for a run and a swim.

Signage was been installed in November 2023, outlining new rules prohibiting dogs between First and Second Creek – a stretch of beach previously designated as an on-lead area. The off-leash area south of Second Creek will remain.

Blacksmiths Beach

Blacksmiths Beach is also a dog-friendly beach. The leash-free area covers the part of Nine Mile Beach extending from the beach car park off Awabakal Avenue, northerly to the Belmont Golf Club boundary.

Pendlebury Park, Bonnells Bay

Bounded by Grand Parade and the Lake, Pendlebury Park Off-leash area is a peaceful and picturesque spot to let your dog off-leash, for a run or a swim.

Hams Beach Off-Leash Area, Caves Beach

Access is via Mawson Close. Park at the Hams Beach car park and the off-leash area is from the car park to the ocean. A great 24 hour dog beach to take your four-legged pal for a run and a swim.

Bagnalls Beach, Corlette

This beach is especially for dogs. Leash-free 24 hours. A beautiful, sandy beach with shallow, calm water for your furry friend to swim. Lots of parking, shade and great views of the Bay.

Billy Beach, Mallabula
