Families looking for a fun school holiday outing should check out YOU & ME and The Land of Lost Things, a hilarious stage adventure coming to the Civic Theatre Newcastle.
Based on the book by bestselling children’s author Andy Griffiths and illustrated by Bill Hope, this playful production has been adapted for the stage by Richard Tulloch. If your kids love the wildly imaginative world of the 13-, 26-, 52-, 78- and 91-Storey Treehouse books, they’ll likely enjoy this lively theatrical adventure too.
The show follows YOU and ME, two characters who have lost something important. Actually, they’ve lost quite a few things – including a guinea pig, a lucky rabbit’s foot and possibly even the plot!
To find everything again, they set off on a chaotic journey through the Land of Lost Things.
Along the way they encounter snapping turtles, flying socks, treasure-hungry pirates and a very anxious bull. With the help of a bathtub boat, a guinea pig detector and a bit of luck, they try to navigate their way home.
Of course, there are plenty of obstacles along the way including sharks, tricky characters like Johnny Knucklehead and a mysterious place called the Lost Foot Empawrium.
The story is packed with imagination, silly humour and fast-paced adventure, making it a great introduction to live theatre for primary school-aged kids.
With its quirky characters and playful storytelling, YOU & ME and The Land of Lost Things is designed to delight both children and their grown-ups.
Vacation care groups can also attend the performance, with bookings available through the Civic Theatre’s dedicated vacation care booking page.
If your family enjoys funny stories, imaginative adventures and the wonderfully silly style of Andy Griffiths’ books, this stage show is likely to be a hit these school holidays.
