It’s been on our list of swimming spots to visit, but we finally made it out to Toronto Baths in Lake Macquarie.
Upgraded in October 2024 by Lake Macquarie City Council, the historic baths is now fully enclosed, with new ramps, jetty decking, and netting for a safer, more inclusive experience.

Toronto Baths has been a council-run swimming baths since 1925 so it’s fantastic to see this historic location running for 100 years.

There’s plenty of room for people to swim and there’s multiple entry points around the baths.

To make it easier to get in the water, there’s a new accessibility ramp with handrails.

The amenities block is in front of the baths and as part of the upgrade, there is now an accessible facility. You’ll find outdoor showers as well here.

Even if you don’t feel like a swim, you can fish off the jetty or enjoy a coffee at Tinto Espresso.

Toronto Baths are located at Victory Parade in Toronto (nearest cross street Wharf Road).
Nearby is Toronto Foreshore Playground. It’s fenced and has playground equipment suitable for kids of different ages but it’s in need of an upgrade. That’s part of the next stage of the Wharf Road Precinct revitalisation.
From here, you can walk along the revitalised Toronto Foreshore. There’s seating along the water, a new rotunda-style pavilion and fantastic views of Lake Macquarie.

There’s loads of cafes to visit in Toronto included Greg and Audreys, a 50s-style diner where you can order hot dogs, homemade ice cream and sundaes.
