If you’re looking to take a break with your child while shopping, looking for somewhere to take your little ones on a rainy day or just want a fun place where the kids can play safely while you work out, do some shopping or catch up with a friend then indoor play centre EMF jnr at Westfield Kotara in Newcastle has you covered.
Located underneath Target at Westfield Kotara (you’ll find the escalator just outside Target to your right), EMF jnr is a two-level indoor play centre that kids up to the age of 12 will love.
EMF jnr comprises two levels. Upstairs you’ll find reception, amenities, play areas suited to varying ages and a cafe. Downstairs houses more amenities, a play area, arcade-style games and party rooms.
The upstairs amenities are conveniently located just inside the entrance. There is a disabled toilet and a parent’s room with a baby change table, sink and a nursing room.
Choose from Casual Free Play sessions, Drop and Shop sessions, Creche or Supervised Play. The use of grip socks is mandatory, so remember to bring your own or buy them from reception.
Casual Free Play sessions are $12.50 per child Monday to Friday or $15 per child on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. Adults receive free entry and these sessions have no time limit.
Drop and Shop sessions are available from Monday to Thursday, 9-11am and 12-2pm (session times run on the hour). The cost is $5/hour/child for members and $30/hour/child for non-members. These sessions are suitable for kids aged 4-12. Bookings are essential and conditions apply.
EMF jnr Creche (for little ones aged 6 months to 5 years) and Supervised Play sessions (for kids aged 4-12) are available Monday to Friday from 9-11am.
These are a great choice for parents and carers using the EMF Fitness Centre. There are different membership options available.
EMF jnr boasts 1,200sqm of play area. The upstairs area is guarded by a giant octopus overlooking an enormous ball pit. Its rope net tentacles are big enough to climb right into and through.
Other fun things for kids to do upstairs include a giant pin art, a pedal bike roundabout and a Kids STEM Lab – a computerised screen featuring different STEM challenges to complete.
The cafe serves hot and cold drinks, snacks and ice creams. It is colourful and bright and there are plenty of tables overlooking a toddler play area, the perfect place to sit and enjoy a coffee while your toddler explores.
The toddler area is for ages 3 and under and has rubber matting underfoot. It includes a mini slide, mini ball pit, play kitchen, play shop, colouring and a Duplo wall.
The downstairs area of EMF jnr features a play area, giant spinning bowl and over 30 arcade-style games, all of which require tokens to play. Tokens can be purchased from reception. The games are suited to younger kids and are so much fun. There’s bowling, claw machines, shooting games, driving games and more.
EMF jnr is the perfect location for an under-12’s birthday party. There are a number of party rooms and three party packages to choose from as well as optional add-ons such as balloons, birthday cake and catering.
