Lake Macquarie City Council’s You’re Kidding Me program is presenting its final activities for 2020, with six free workshops to inform and entertain parents and their children.
The program kicks off on Tuesday 13 October and features five online workshops as well as one in-person event. The program covers speech development, mood management, transitioning to school, child development and yoga.
Community Planner Jess Salvador said the workshops demonstrated Council’s continued support for Lake Mac families. “We’ve designed them to be informative as well as enjoyable. Our presenters are local experts who donate their time to share their knowledge and support families,” Ms Salvador said.
The first session will be led by Early Start Speech Pathology and will focus on providing guidance and support to enhance your child’s speech and language development.
Community Activities Lake Macquarie will be offering a seminar on Wednesday 14 October that will share strategies to deal with anger and tantrums in children.
On Wednesday 28 October, Clio from Yoga Magic with Kids will lead an in-person yoga session at Speers Point Park. Open to children aged 3-5 years old and suitable for all abilities, the class will have a maximum of 20 spaces, with bookings essential.
Other workshops include Transitioning to School, hosted by paediatric occupational therapists from The Rainbow Clinic, Insights into Parenting an Anxious Child, from child psychology clinic Beam Health, and Understanding Child Development, hosted by Northcott Early Intervention Service.
You’re Kidding Me workshops are free, but each session has a maximum attendance, so bookings are essential. Online sessions will be run via, Microsoft Teams and registered participants will receive the link to the session the day before.
