Where to Use Your Discover NSW Voucher Before They Expire

Wondering where to use your Discover NSW voucher? Most people have used the Dine portion of the NSW Dine & Discover vouchers but if you have a Discover voucher still to use, here are some ideas. The Dine & Discover vouchers expire on Thursday 30 June 2022.

There are plenty of fun family activities to use your $25 Discover NSW voucher in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie & Hunter as well as on the Central Coast and around Sydney. You can also use your $250 Parents NSW Vouchers as Discover vouchers as well. If you’re looking for places in Sydney to use your vouchers, scroll to the end of the article. We’ve also included schemes to Pay It Forward to worthy charities.

Use your vouchers and have some family fun. 2 x $25 Discover NSW vouchers to be used for entertainment and recreation, including cultural institutions, live music, and arts venues, available 7 days a week, excluding public holidays. Generally, you can use them at movie theatres, live music, family attractions including zoos, museums and amusements.

Note that you don’t have to do the experience before June 30. Businesses can accept a voucher for an experience that takes place after the scheme ends, as long as the voucher is redeemed before 30 June 2022.  For example, you can accept a Discover NSW Voucher for an experience that takes place on 15 September, as long as the customer uses the voucher to pay by 30 June 2022. 

The Dine & Discover NSW Voucher ends on Thursday 30 June 2022. The Parents NSW vouchers can be used until until 9 October 2022.

Treetops Adventure Park

Take your kids to TreeTops Adventure Park at Blue Gum Hills in Newcastle. It’s a super fun day out where kids can climb through the trees, cross wobbly obstacles and fly through the tree tops on flying foxes. There is a dedicated course just for children aged 3 to 9. The adult course is open to kids aged 10 – 17 who are at least 1.4 metres tall. Treetops Adventure Park in Newcastle is the only park operating near us at the moment as all their other attractions located in the Greater Sydney region are closed. Fighter World Williamtown

If your kids love planes, take them to Fighterworld near the Williamtown RAAF base. Fighter World is an aviation heritage centre is an enjoyable 30-minute drive from Newcastle. Heddon Greta Drive In

Hunter Valley Wildlife Park (formerly Hunter Valley Zoo)

Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters

If you’re looking for an interactive, educational and memorable activity to do with the kids, Irukandji Shark and Ray Encounters in Port Stephens may be just the place! Kids and adults can experience ocean life in a hands-on and exciting way. There are a variety of options available in terms of how adventurous or up-close and personal you wish to get with the sharks and rays. You can get in the pools with these creatures. Or if you prefer, you can opt to stay dry but still participate in touching, feeding and learning from the perimeter of the aquariums. Oakvale Wildlife Park

Milk a cow, bottle-feed baby animals, ride a tractor-trailer and pat a koala. There’s so much fun for families at Oakvale Wildlife Park in Port Stephens. It’s full of creatures including native Australian animals (koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils), farm animals and exotic animals such as ring-tailed lemurs. Located at Salt Ash, Oakvale Wildlife Park is an enjoyable 40-minute drive from Newcastle CBD and is a fun day out for both kids and adults. Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary

Learn about koala conservation by visiting the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary. Nestled among 8 hectares of bushland near One Mile Beach and Worimi Conservation Lands and dunes, the Sanctuary is a 45-minute drive from Newcastle. This facility supports the rehabilitation & preservation of koalas. Walk along the Sanctuary Story Walk. This is a 250-metre long pathway that tells the story through larger than life sculptures and signs about “Kasey”, a locally rescued koala who was nursed back to health. You can also see the Koala Hospital, a new facility where visitors can look through a purpose-built viewing window as veterinary staff care for sick and injured koalas (depending on treatment times). You can redeem NSW Discover Vouchers to see a movie at Reading Cinemas Charlestown, Reading Cinemas Maitland, Event Cinemas Kotara, Event Cinemas Glendale, Hoyts Charlestown and Hoyts Greenhills.

Go bowling

Use your Discover Vouchers at Strike Bowling Charlestown, Superstrike at Maitland and Salamander Bay or Dullboys at Warners Bay.

Play minigolf

Want to play some mini golf with your family? There’s a range of putt putt courses, both indoor and outdoors in Newcastle, Lake Macquarie and Hunter to enjoy with your kids. Head to Newcastle Supa Putt, Holey Moley at Charlestown Square or Toboggan Hill Park.

Go for a cruise on the water

Go for a cruise of Newcastle Harbour with your kids and use your Discover Voucher. Kids ages 3+ can explore Newcastle’s coast with CoastXP. It’s a fun adventure boat tour that combines sightseeing with local history and marine life. You can also do a harbour cruise with Nova Cruises who are also accepting Discover Vouchers. If you prefer to cruise on Lake Macquarie, use your Discover Voucher with Lake Macquarie Cruises or on the new Lake Macquarie Ferry.


Australian Reptile Park

The Australian Reptile Park features exotic reptiles from around the world as well as Australian native animals. All of your favourites are here including koalas, kangaroos, dingoes, wallabies, wombats, quokkas and lots of reptiles. You’ll find lots of snakes, iguanas, lizards and alligators. There are also daily presentations like Reptile Shows and Animal feedings as well as educational talks. Be sure to visit Elvis the Crocodile when he’s being fed. He’s been named Australia’s crankiest crocodile and lost his two front teeth during an attack on park staff and their lawnmowers in 2011. Australia Walkabout Wildlife Park

Not as well known as the Australian Reptile Park but the Australian Walkabout Wildlife Park is worth a visit. The Walkabout Park is a working wildlife sanctuary that was established to protect animals that come into care, breed endangered animals for release back into the wild. There are numerous animals for you to meet including kangaroos, dingoes, koalas, wallabies, emus and kookaburras. There is also a petting zoo where you can feed goats, alpacas and their farmyard friends. Throughout the day, there are daily ranger-led activities including meeting Waffles the Pig and Tonka the Teenage Wombat, patting a python and experiencing an encounter with an echidna. You can redeem your Discover voucher when you visit. Walkabout Park will then discount your purchases to the value of the vouchers. Or, if you have already booked and paid online, they will refund the value of the vouchers to you.

TreeTop Adventure Park and NetWorld

Get your adventure on at TreeTops. Although there are TreeTop Adventure Parks around NSW, the TreeTops Central Coast facility offers the most variety with four separate activities to try. At the At TreeTop Adventure Park, you can challenge yourself up high in the trees as it features flying foxes, cargo nets, Tarzan swings, tightropes, suspended rafts, trapezes, twisted ladders and more! If you feel like climbing, try the TreeTop Vertical Challenges and climb up a massive Eucalypt tree. For more of an adrenaline rush, try the TreeTop Crazy Rider which combines rollercoaster with ziplines. Hold on your stomach as you swoop, twist, turn and zig-zag through the trees. For something calmer, choose Networld. In this adventure, you can bounce around with gigantic inflatable balls high up in the treetops through a series of interconnected spaces. Amazement Farm & Fun Park

Check out Amazement Farm & Fun Park for some retro family fun. Challenge yourselves in one of the hedge mazes or see friendly farm animals. Get up close to friendly critters during the petting shows. You can meet bunnies, goats, donkeys and even have a pony ride. As well as a kids playground area, there are giant board games you can play. Your Discover voucher can be redeemed at the Amazement Farm & Fun Park ticket counter at the entrance to the park.


Taronga Zoo

You can use your Discover voucher to visit Taronga Zoo for a day visit. but you can also use it towards an annual pass for Taronga Zoo that you can use in Sydney and Dubbo. With every adult or concession Zoo Friends annual pass you get two kids (aged 4-15 years) annual passes free. When you buy online you save 10%, meaning that it’s just $99 for one adult and two children to enjoy 365 days of Zoo fun! You can also use your Discover NSW voucher to purchase or renew a membership. This can be done by purchasing over the phone at their Zoos. Call them on (02) 9969 2777 (opt 3) to redeem. You can use this membership for 365 days unlimited access to Taronga Zoo Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo Dubbo as well as receiving reciprocal entry to interstate Zoos including Adelaide, Melbourne, and Perth Zoos*.

Sydney Opera House

If you have the time, book in for a show at the Sydney Opera House. There is always a range of fantastic performances spanning a number of genres as well as activities specifically for kids like school holiday workshops and events in their new Centre for Creativity. You can also do a tour of the Sydney Opera House. There are various tours to choose from including architectural and foodie tours but we recommend the Kids tour. On this 1-hour tour, expert guides will take you and your family on a journey under the sails of the Sydney Opera House to learn what makes the House so special. Bridge Climb

If heights don’t bother you, you can pay for Bridge Climb using your Discover voucher and travel to the top of the bridge and marvel in the 360-degree views of Sydney. It’s a sensational experience climbing up through the steel arches of this bridge and reaching the summit. And you can do it with your family. Kids aged 8 and over who are over 1.2 metres tall can do Bridge Climb. Children aged 8 to 15 inclusive must be accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of three children per adult. Definitely an unforgettable family experience.

Luna Park

For some family fun, head to Luna Park. Located across the harbour in Milsons Point, this is Sydney’s most iconic amusement park. It’s easy to get to – just get off at  Milsons Point Ferry Wharf or Train Station. It’s a restored 1930s amusement park featuring modern rides. There are roller coasters, thrill rides, sideshow games and family rides that will suit younger kids. The great thing about Luna Park is that it is free entry. But anyone wishing to go on rides and access attractions (including adults accompanying children in the Red and/or Green height zones) must have a valid Day Pass ticket for the date of their visit. You can use your Discover voucher at Luna Park. They are redeemable at the Front Ticket Boxes for IN PARK SALES ONLY for Day Passes, Annual Passes, Games, and Photography. SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium

If you’re in Sydney, a trip to SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium in Darling Harbour is a must. How can you not love a place where a dugong winks at you, a shark stares you down and a little penguin make you laugh? Welcome to underwater life with all of its fascinating inhabitants. With a series of glass viewing tunnels, Sydney Aquarium is a must-do family attraction. It allows you to descend underwater and view marine creatures up close. Wild Life Sydney Zoo

If you don’t have the time to devote to going to Taronga Zoo, a great alternative is Wild Life Sydney Zoo in Darling Harbour. In this attraction, you’ll get up close to Australian animals including koalas, wallabies, wombats, kangaroos, platypus and a crocodile. There is even snakes, spiders and frogs too. Sydney Tower Eye

For a birds-eye view of Sydney, head to Sydney Tower Eye, Sydney’s tallest structure. Your visit starts with a short four minute 3D movie experience of Sydney. Afer this, you enter the elevator for the trip to the viewing area of the tower. It takes a mere 45 seconds to travel up 250 metres and in no time at all, you’ll be at the Observation Deck.

From here, enjoy 360 degree views of Sydney and beyond. In addition to the magnificent views, there’s touch-screens, kid-sized viewing telescopes and even brass telescopes that feature historical photos around Sydney like scenes of Pyrmont Bridge, George Street and the Railyards.

If you want more of a thrill, do the SKYWALK and step out into the open air of Sydney Tower. This is a fully-guided tour around the outside of the top of Sydney Tower. Madame Tussauds Sydney

Grab a selfie with all the big stars at Sydney’s wax museum at Darling Harbour. It’s uncanny how realistic some of these figurines appear. This fun attractions lets you get up close with actors, musicians, heroes of the Justice League, your favourite characters from Marvel as well as members of the royal family in Royal Academy. 

You can even get your photo taken with a Bollywood star and then dress up and learn some iconic Bollywood dance moves. And it’s not just current stars and fanmous people. You can have your photos taken with some of the the world’s most revered and respected histocial figures at Madame Tussauds Sydney including Albert Einstein, Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela and Sir Donald “Don” Bradman. Australian National Maritime Museum

Use your Discover voucher at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Darling Harbour. Use one of your $25 Discover vouchers towards a Family See It All ticket (worth $70) which includes kid’s activities, the vessels, exhibitions and the museum galleries. It’s a fantastic museum that bring alive Australia’s deep connection to the sea, past and present.

Art Gallery NSW

The Art Gallery of NSW is one of Australia’s flagship art museums and the state’s leading visual arts institution. Admission to the Art Gallery is free, and so are their permanent galleries and most exhibitions and events. You can redeem your Discover NSW towards membership, events and exhibition tickets.

Sydney Living Museums

Sydney Living Museums cares for a group of 12 of the most important historic houses, gardens and museums in NSW on behalf of the people of NSW. These include Hyde Park Barracks, Museum of Sydney, Elizabeth Farm, Justice & Police Museum, Susannah Place, The Mint and Vaucluse House. You can redeem your $25 Discover NSW voucher against General Admission tickets, Membership (and in person renewals) and the Sydney Museums Pass at all of the historic houses and museums currently open to the public.

Harbour Cruise

Use your Discover voucher for a cruise of Sydney Harbour. Captain Cook Cruises offer cruises to suit the entire family. Choose from the Harbour Experience aboard their premier sightseeing fleet or Rocket Sightseeing aboard their red rocket catamarans. For something different, book a unique 90-minute Tall Ship Cruise with Sydney Harbour Tall Ships. Board one of their traditional tall ships Southern Swan or the impressive Soren Larsen and discover the sights and sounds of Sydney on a unique ‘historic meets modern’ harbour cruise.

If you want more of an adrenaline rush, use your Discover voucher on Sydney Harbour Thunder Jet Boating. Hop on Tornado or Lightning, our 23 seater Jet Boats for full 360 degree spins! The ‘Extreme Adrenaline Rush’ Jet Boat Ride will take you past the Opera House, Harbour Islands (Clark & Shark), and the exclusive suburbs of Rose Bay, Watsons Bay. Whale Watching Cruise

It’s whale watching season so use your Discover voucher on a whale watching cruise. In Sydney, choose from Captain Cook Cruises who leave from Darling Harbour on a 2.5 hour cruise.

Sydney Zoo

You can also redeem your Discover voucher at Sydney Zoo in Western Sydney. Sydney Zoo is home to over 4,000 animals including a wide range of exotic and native animals, Australia’s largest Reptile and Nocturnal House and an aquarium. You can redeem your Discover voucher to buy your Sydney Zoo day tickets, unlimited passes and memberships.

Scenic World

If you’re planning a trip to the Blue Mountains, use your Discover voucher at Scenic World in Katoomba. It’s a fantastic attraction which gives you different views of the Blue Mountains and the magnificent Jamieson Valley. Scenic World consists of the Scenic Cableway, Scenic Railway and Scenic Skyway and is a great daytrip or weekend away from Sydney. Redeem your Discover voucher to buy an Unlimited Discovery Pass. Tip: Choose the Earlybird Unlimited Discovery Pass for 9am entry. It’s cheaper.

Catch a show at the Sydney Lyric Theatre

You can use your Discover voucher to see a live performance. Use your NSW Discover Vouchers when you purchase your tickets to Mary Poppins in person at the Sydney Lyric box office. Visit the Sydney Lyric Box Office in person (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) and have your valid Discover Voucher/s available to be scanned. Alternatively, if tickets are available, you can purchase your tickets using your Discover Vouchers 1-2 hours prior to your performance. You can check ticket availability here before making your way to the Box Office.

You can also use your Discover voucher towards the cost of tickets to Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella. It’s coming to the Sydney Lyric from October. Use your NSW Discover Vouchers when you purchase your tickets in person at the Sydney Lyric box office. Visit the Sydney Lyric Box Office in person (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) and have your valid Discover Voucher/s available to be scanned. *Discover Vouchers must be used for bookings before 30 June 2022, however can be used to book tickets into future performances.

Symbio Wildlife Park

Redeem your Discover vouchers at Symbio Wildlife Park, a family owned and operated zoo which is located on the Southern outskirts of Sydney in the the suburb of Helensburgh. Redeem your Discover voucher for a $25 Symbio Discount Pass.

Head to the movies

Use your Discover NSW voucher and see the latest new releases at Event Cinemas, HOYTS and Reading Cinemas like Top Gun: Maverick, Jurassic World Dominion or family new releases Minions: The Rise of Gru and Lightyear. You can also head to the Drive In at Blacktown and see a movie.

If there isn’t a movie in the cinema that you want to see right now, you can redeem your Discover NSW voucher for a HOYTS e-vouchers. Save on movie tickets, plus all HOYTS e-vouchers are valid for 3 years. You can choose from a HOYTS Unrestricted E-Voucher – 2 movie tickets for $25 or a HOYTS LUX e-voucher – 1 HOYTS LUX ticket for $25. Pay It Forward

You can also pay your unused Discover vouchers forward to help kids in need via Symbio Wildlife Park! For every redemption to Symbio Wildlife Park, they will allocate two x entry tickets to one of five children’s charities on your behalf! You can nominate the charity you wish for it to be donated to. The charities are: Canteen, Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation, Starlight Foundation, Variety (The Children’s Charity) and Kidzwish.
