Eating out with kids isn’t always easy. So it makes sense to look for kid-friendly cafes or restaurants that offer kids playground or kids area. Here’s some places in Newcastle, Maitland and Lake Macquarie that offer playgrounds or kids area.

Argenton Hotel (Argenton) – CURRENTLY CLOSED FOR RENOVATION
With a giant outdoor playground and spacious cabana shelters, The Argenton Hotel is a top family-friendly dining spot in Lake Macquarie. The play equipment is recommended for kids 4 to 10 but parts of the play equipment would be suitable for younger kids especially if the playground is emptier.
Belmont 16s (Belmont)
Delicious meals, lake views and a kids play area make Belmont 16s an ideal place to go with your family or mothers group. The family dining area is located in a separate area and features a kids play area (best suited to kids under 6).
Blackbutt Hotel (New Lambton)
If you’re looking for a relaxed no-fuss pub that’s kid-friendly, head to the Blackbutt Hotel in New Lambton. It features a small indoor playground for kids.
Caves Beachside Hotel (Caves Beach)
With ocean views, Caves Beachside Hotel is a relaxed and casual spot with plenty of room to sit inside or outside close to the outdoor kids area.
CBD Cafe (Newcastle)
The CBD Hotel is a relaxed family-friendly option in the middle of Newcastle. The hotel features an indoor kids playground in the beer garden ensuring that parents can enjoy themselves while kids are entertained.
Charlestown Bowling Club (Charlestown)
With delicious food, a kids play area and a central location, the Charlestown Bowling Club is a top spot to go with your family or mothers group. It’s a large club with a choice of indoor and outdoor seating and plenty of space to park prams and strollers. Located outside but still undercover, this playground is best suited for kids aged 3 to 7.

Jewells Tavern (Jewells)
Jewells Tavern is well set up for kids with a large outdoor play area. The outdoor area features lots of picnic tables so you can sit out there and keep an eye on your children playing.
Sydney Junction Hotel (Hamilton)
Keep the kids occupied with a large undercover Kids Zone area with play equipment at the Sydney Junction Hotel.
The Mattara (Charlestown)
The Mattara features an indoor play area for kids and is a good place to keep kids busy before and after their meal.
Instead of being a restaurant with a play area, Megamania is the indoor play area with the restaurant. It’s a popular spot for families.
Wallsend Diggers (Wallsend)
With a large play area in its outdoor area, Wallsend Diggers is a great spot for meet ups of mothers groups or families looking for a kid-friendly option.
