How NSW Parents Can Get $250 Entertainment & Accommodation Vouchers as a Homeschooling Thank You

| |

A new $250 NSW Government voucher scheme has been introduced a month early and contains vouchers you can use for entertainment and accommodation in New South Wales.

The vouchers will be accessed via the Service NSW app as a “thank you” for our efforts in homeschooling during the COVID-19 lockdown.

The NSW Government has launched Parents NSW Vouchers to thank parents, guardians and carers who provided home learning to their school-enrolled children during 2021.

From tomorrow (Monday 7 February 2022), one person from each eligible household can apply for 5 x $50 vouchers, worth $250 in total. (These were originally announced to start in March 2022 but surprisingly the date has been brought forward).

To apply, you must have provided learning from home during 2021 for a school-aged child aged 4.5 to 18 years in 2021.

The 5 x $50 Parents NSW Vouchers can be used:

  • 7 days a week
  • at Discover NSW businesses for entertainment and recreation activities
  • at Stay NSW businesses for accommodation bookings
  • until 9 October 2022.

Under the scheme, each household with a child enrolled into school last year will be able to apply for five $50 Parent NSW vouchers worth $250 in total.

You will need to apply for your vouchers. You can either apply via the Service NSW website or the Service NSW App (In the Vouchers section, click Browse and you’ll see it there. Have your Driver’s License and Medicare care ready.

The child you are applying with must be on your Medicare card. To apply, you must have provided learning from home during 2021 for a school-aged child aged 4.5 to 18 years in 2021.

Like with the vouchers for Active Kids and Creative Kids, you’ll need to verify your identity, add your residential address and add your Medicare details. You’ll then have to add your child details including their full name, Medicare IRN number, date of birth, confirm their residential address and add the name of the child’s educational institution in 2021. This educational institution can be Kindergarten to Year 12, including home-school or secondary school education at TAFE NSW.

Once you’ve applied for the voucher, you should get a screen that states that your application has been approved and you’ll receive a confirmation email containing your vouchers. They will also immediately show up in your NSW Service NSW App as 5 x $50 Parents Vouchers.

Multiple Parents NSW Vouchers can be redeemed at the same business at the same time, up to a total value of $250. The scheme expires 9 October 2022 so start planning to use those vouchers!
