- This is is a world first program targeting fathers and their preschool-aged children to improve family physical activity and nutrition. It’s from the same team at The University of Newcastle, Australia that presented the acclaimed DADEE program for dads and daughters.
- Involves 8 x 75 minute weekly group sessions for dads and youngsters delivered by university trained facilitators.
- The practical sessions target 3 key areas each week – Rough and Tumble Play, Fundamental Movement Skills and Fun Fitness.
- Each of these 3 areas have a strong evidence base for optimising the physical and mental health of youngsters, also benefiting the dads!
There are two Dads-only workshops on Thursday 15 & 22 October from 6:30pm – 8:30pm. During these two separate 2-hour ‘dads-only’ sessions, fathers learn parenting strategies to improve their child’s sport skills, dietary behaviours, physical activity levels and social-emotional wellbeing. They are also taught how to engage in positive lifestyle role modelling to optimise their family’s health.
It’s then followed by 8 x 75 minute weekly Saturday sessions for dads and youngsters from 17 October to 5 December either at 8:30am or 10am.
