Help Celebrate Hamilton’s 150th Birthday!

On Saturday 11 December, the suburb of Hamilton will turn 150 years old!  It’s a huge milestone and to celebrate Hello Hamilton is presenting a family-friendly event. The businesses and community of Hamilton will celebrate with activities commencing from 10am to mark this historical occasion.

In Beaumont Street, celebrations will run from 10am to 12:30pm (150 minutes to mark 150 years) with entertainment from the sweet dulcet tones of children from the Julie Logan Music Academy, where they will perform carols in James Street Plaza and Piggott’s Corner.  The music won’t stop there as Sam Reynolds Music joins in the activities at the Plaza.

More colour, fun, sound and joy will emanate in the street with entertainment from Curious Legends and their Bush Clowns.

Alex Egner, talented chalk artist extraordinaire will create amazing images sketching live!  Super Heroes will delight the child in us, young and old and of course, Santa and his elf will be on hand to have photos taken. 

But wait, there’s more. From 3pm to 4.30pm, Hudson Street Hum will host a Trash Creatures workshop with Yvette Ten-Bohmer where you can get messy creating creatures from all things recycled. Register via their Facebook page

The culmination of Hamilton’s 150-year celebrations will be from 5pm in Gregson Park, when the space comes alive as Curious Legends launch their new outdoor festival show CURB.  This live activation is a performance for children and their families. Exploring Trash, loneliness, and what to do if you’ve lost your Peel their giant Banana is getting its own cameo! 

Join the crew from Curious Legends for another outdoor, fun, family-friendly, event, along with live music by the Syndicate Jazz Duo, roving entertainment, fabulous food trucks. Come party with us in Gregson Park!!
