Follow the yellow brick road to The Wizard of Oz Arena Spectacular. It brings to life one of the most beloved fantasy tales of all time at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre on 26 & 27 April 2019 with state of the art technology and wizardry.
Starring over 500 performers, you’ll see all your favourite characters including Dorothy, The Lion, The Scarecrow, Tin Man and Glinda the Good Witch on a stage the size of three basketball courts. Take the whole family somewhere over the rainbow during the April school holidays. Prepare to be enthralled as the set features a 9-metre high LED screen on which wall-to-wall animations will bring the land of Oz to life in vivid colour unlike any other production of The Wizard of Oz.
Harvest Rain CEO and Director, Tim O’Connor says, “Everyone knows and loves the 1939 film, but for this new arena production, we wanted to take what audiences are familiar with and tip it on it’s head. This is a whole new vision of Oz, brought to life on the massive arena stage with state-of-the-art technology and wizardry.”
The cast includes Carly Bettinson as Dorothy, with Chris Geoghegas, Michael Nunn, Josh Whitten, Bil Heit and Aurelia Rogue. Simon Gallaher has been cast as the Wizard.
The Wizard of Oz Arena Spectacular kicks off in Newcastle before heading to Brisbane in July 2019, Adelaide in October 2019 and Sydney and Canberra in 2020.
