Parents of young kids can now benefit from a swimming voucher. In their 2021 budget, the NSW government has announced that parents across NSW will be able to apply for $100 vouchers to pay for learn to swim lessons for kids aged 3 – 6.
Families with preschool and kindergarten age children will be able to redeem $100 to put towards swimming classes.
The First Lap voucher program provides $100 vouchers for parents, guardians and carers of children aged 3-6 years towards the cost of swimming lessons. This will include children in kindergarten in 2021, or who are starting kindergarten in 2022.
The First Lap voucher program provides one $100 voucher each financial year to parents, guardians and carers of children aged 3-6 years to contribute to the cost of learn to swim classes.
The voucher may be used for an eligible child’s participation in a structured swimming lesson program with an approved First Lap provider. You can apply for the First Lap voucher through Service NSW similar to Active Kids and Creative Kids vouchers.
Vouchers are valid for redemption during the financial year of issue (Year 1 will commence on 1 December 2021 and expire on 30 June 2022). The First Lap program will run from 1 December 2021 to 30 June 2023.
The program has also been made available for children in kindergarten in 2021 or who are starting kindergarten in 2022.
- can be used for a program of at least 5 structured and supervised swimming lessons, which are either intensive (daily) or regular weekly lessons
- can be used at any participating business that is an approved First Lap provider
- is valid until 30 June 2022.

More NSW Vouchers
The Dine & Discover NSW Voucher scheme has been expanded to include another $25 Dine Voucher and $25 Discover Voucher. You now have until 30 June 2022 to use your vouchers. If you have already applied for Dine & Discover NSW, the additional vouchers have now been added to the Service NSW app in December 2021.
The Stay and Rediscover voucher goes towards the cost of holiday accommodation. Stay and Rediscover program provides a $50 voucher available to all NSW residents aged over 18 years old to be used with participating accommodation providers in NSW. Starting in March 2022, you can use the $50 voucher for a stay at a hotel, caravan park and camping ground in NSW. NSW residents will be able to apply for a $50 Stay & Discover voucher soon.
Also, an announcement was made about the “Homeschooling Thank You” voucher. Any household which had a school-aged child in 2021 will receive a $250 voucher per household in March 2022 through Service NSW. This will be made up of 5 x $50 vouchers which can be redeemed for recreation and accommodation. There’s limited information about this scheme at the moment but we’ll share more information once we have it.
