91-Storey Treehouse, Gruffalo’s Child & The Sapphires coming to Civic Theatre Newcastle in 2020

The lineup for the 2020 season at Civic Theatre Newcastle has been announced and there’s fantastic stage shows to enjoy with your family. Get in quick to get tickets – these make excellent Christmas gifts!

The Gruffalo’s Child

The Gruffalo’s Child is a magical musical adaptation of the much-loved picture book. One wild and windy night, the Gruffalo’s Child ignores her father’s warnings about the Big Bad Mouse and tiptoes out into the deep dark wood.

This show brings together physical theatre, music and puppetry to deliver songs, laughs and scary fun for children aged 3 and up, and their adults. 

The performance runs on Tuesday 19 May at 12:30pm and 6:30pm and Wednesday 20 May at 10:30am and 12:30pm. 

Tickets cost $30 for adults, $24 for subscriber, $16 for kids (2-12) and $20 for youth (13-21). Family tickets (2A+2C) are $80.

The Sapphires

The multiple award-winning musical play, The Sapphires which inspired the film, is coming to the Civic Theatre stage in May.  

This funny, heart-warming tale details the incredible journey of four Yorta Yorta Women, who sing classic soul hits against the backdrop of personal change and massive social upheaval. 

The 2 hour, 10 minute performance (including interval) runs on Friday 29 May at 11am and Saturday 20 May at 2pm and 7:30pm. This show is recommended for ages 7+

Tickets cost $50 for adults, $42 for subscriber, $44 for concession, $30 for kids (7-16) and $35 for youth (17-21). Family tickets (2A+2C) are $150.

The 91-Storey Treehouse

The Treehouse returns to Newcastle with The 91-Storey Treehouse Live on Stage presented by CPD Kids. This show is adapted from the popular book series by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton.

The treehouse is now more fantastically dangerous than ever, with a deserted desert island, a whirlpool and a giant spider!

 The 60-minute performance runs on Tuesday 9 June at 12:30pm and 6:30pm and Wednesday 10 June at 10:30am and 12:30pm. This show is recommended for ages 6 – 12.

Tickets cost $30 for adults, $24 for subscriber, $16 for kids (2-12) and $20 for youth (13-21). Family tickets (2A+2C) are $80.
